Our Purpose

Cindy and Kim both received a word from the Lord at separate times. Both words were that they were to write a blog. For Kim, it was a transition away from the writing she had been doing to discover her new voice and message. For Cindy, it was about stepping out in faith as a first step to writing a book.

Talking about it over lunch, it became clear God desired them to author one together. After much thought and prayer, Love Not Lies was created on the faith that God would bring the right readers at the right time.

Knowing this blog was to be a source of freedom, they based the theme of the blog on a very important Bible Verse. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  John 8:32

The mission of this blog is to show readers that there is an enemy seeking to steal, kill and destroy our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Ephesians 6:12 makes clear that the we are in a spiritual battle.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

But many Christians perish for a lack of knowledge because they never understand that the battle wages not in the flesh, but rather in our minds.

One of Satan’s greatest assets is that he is the father of lies. He knows the Bible better an any human being and knows how to twist 1% truth into one giant lie. Beyond that the enemy is constantly speaking to us, dropping thoughts into our minds that are contrary to God’s word. “I’m not worthy.” “I’m not lovable.” “I am a terrible person.” “I’m going to get cancer because it is in my family history.” “God hates me.”

What is rattling around in your head? Are you tempted? Are you being told who you are and who you aren’t? Do you feel like someone or something is trying to control you?

We believe it is these destructive thoughts that are causing God’s people to perish because they do not have enough knowledge to know who is speaking to them. We think the thoughts are ours. We speak them out of our mouths breathing life into the lie. We begin to believe the lie. The lie becomes a part of us and opens the door for the enemy to reek havoc in our lives.

So we ask you this one simple question: Who’s talking to you?

We know… you are probably thinking the thoughts are yours. After all, your hearing them in the first person. They sound like you. But isn’t that just like Satan, to fool us by disguising himself. If you stop and think about it, you wouldn’t let a man dressed in black, wearing a mask, carrying a large bag into your house, but you might very well let in someone who seems innocent enough similar to you in how they act and dress.

We all fall victim to the enemy’s schemes. Everyone. No one is excluded – not the large mega-church pastors, President of the Unites States, or the host of Noble Prize Winners.

When you know who’s talking to you and you know when what is being said is in direct opposition to the Word of God, then you have a choice. You can choose to perish or you can fight.

God’s Word says He will never harm you. He will never condemn you. His Word only builds, fortifies and sustains. It nourishes, edifies and strengthens. It bolsters faith and give us hope. God’s Word is the bread of life and the cleansing water by which our blemishes are removed.

The truth found in God’s Word is the ONLY weapon that can silence the accuser. God’s truth counters the feelings, lies and accusations of Satan. And the good news is that we have the ability to take our thoughts captive and trample serpents and scorpions sending them back to the dry place.

If the battlefield is in the mind, isn’t it great that God gave us victory by way of His Son – the Living Word?

It is our heartfelt prayer each entry in this blog inspires you to take an honest look at your thoughts and discover what lies are crippling your self-esteem, health, marriage, relationships and career. As we share the lies we’ve dealt with and conquered, we hope it gives you the strength and courage to take an inventory and rid anything that is contrary to God’s truth.
